I began recently to think about all the things that we do, and if we would do them if those who are close to us knew what we were doing. I began to think about people who do drugs and have sex and have relationships and began to think about what if our parents knew about these things. In Islam dating is not allowed and often parents get very upset when they find out their children are dating. What if your parents knew about it? What would they say?
That’s one of the major things that has personally stopped me from doing a lot of things. What if my parents found out, more specifically my mom, what would I do? Personally speaking, my mom would be devastated if she found out that I did drugs or was having sex or drinking; and that’s part of the reason I don’t do it. In Islam all these things are not allowed and you get sin for it, but think about the sin you get for disappointing your parents.
In Islam one of the three major sins is disobeying your parents. Imagine yourself in your parents shoes, to put all your time and effort to raise your children and then they go behind your back, how would you feel?
Often we do things different in front of others and in private. We are different with friends than we are with family and others. We are loose with some, often cursing and doing things we wouldn’t dare with our family present. Why? Do we really think that people won’t find out? Do we really think it won’t catch up with us?
The fact of the matter is that Allah (god) is watching and ultimately knows everything we do. Whether it is tomorrow or next week or on the Day of Judgment, the things we do will catch up with us, and what will we say then? We need to be ourselves everywhere and stop worrying about what others will think and remember that Allah knows all.
What do you guys think?
That’s it for now, more soon..
